1-Month Review: 2024 Toyota Crown Limited

After a month with my new 2024 Toyota Crown Limited, I wanted to share my experience. As someone upgrading from a 2007 Scion tC (which lasted 14 years with no issues), I was looking for a hybrid vehicle without the hassle of EV charging. My family has always been loyal to Toyota, so this felt like a natural choice. Here’s my detailed review:

Pros:

  1. Best Driving Experience:

    • Tested against the 2024 Prius Prime, Camry XSE Hybrid, and RAV4 Hybrid XLE.
    • The Crown was the smoothest and most comfortable, with seamless freeway acceleration.
    • It offers a premium interior that rivals Lexus vehicles.
  2. Advanced Features:

    • Equipped with the Advanced Tech Package, including features like a panoramic view monitor, digital key, lane change assist, and front cross-traffic alert.
    • Steering assist and automatic braking make parking and tight spaces a breeze.
    • Interior with leather trim feels luxurious, and Apple CarPlay integration is flawless.
    • Separate AC controls for driver, front, and rear passengers add convenience.
  3. Ride Quality and Design:

    • Handles rough roads and long trips effortlessly.
    • Despite initial reservations, the two-tone paint design has grown on me, receiving compliments even from Tesla owners.
  4. Gas Mileage:

    • Advertised at 42/41 mpg, and initial impressions show excellent efficiency. A full tank started at 643 miles.

Cons:

  1. Cost:

    • MSRP with upgrades: $51,349.
    • 20% down payment and 3.75% APR.
    • While expensive, it feels justified for the value provided.
  2. Minimal Drawbacks:

    • After a month, I haven’t found any significant issues. Time will tell if more arise.

Summary:
The Crown Limited is a fantastic choice for those seeking a hybrid that combines luxury, reliability, and performance. It outshines the competition in its class and even garners attention from luxury car owners. I’ll continue to monitor its performance and provide updates over time.

Cost Breakdown:

  • MSRP: $51,349 (with upgrades).
  • 20% down payment.
  • 3.75% APR from Toyota.
  • No dealership fees.

For those considering similar financing, these details might help in planning.

Where did you get the 3.75% APR? Was it through Toyota or a credit union?

@Oswin
The 3.75% APR was through Toyota, as part of a manufacturer promotion.

I test-drove all the cars you mentioned and ended up choosing the Platinum trim. It’s smoother, quieter, and handles bumps better than others in the same price range. I also considered the Lexus ES, but it felt dated compared to the Crown.

@Fern
What’s your average MPG in the Platinum, and how does it compare to the advertised numbers?

Toyota typically reserves 2.5-3 gallons of fuel after the low gas light turns on to protect the hybrid system and fuel pump. This means you might not ever use the full advertised tank range.

I just bought the Platinum version yesterday. After a $5,000 discount, I couldn’t resist the extra power and 6-speed transmission. Loving it so far!

It’s been a few months since your review. Any updates on your experience with the Crown? I’m considering getting one soon.

After 4 months, my review remains largely the same. I did notice minor wind noise from the driver’s side, but it’s minimal and doesn’t detract from the overall experience. Still highly recommend it!
