2014 Camry shudder at 45mph – Dirty transmission fluid issue?

Hey everyone,

Just picked up a 2014 Camry after my 2006 Buick Lucerne got totaled. Love the car so far, but I’ve noticed something odd. Around 45mph, I sometimes get a shudder or vibration—probably happens about half the time.

I looked it up and found that some 2014 models had an issue with dirty transmission fluid causing this shudder between 30-45mph. Apparently, some were covered under an extended warranty. Has anyone dealt with this? If you took it to a Toyota service center, was it actually covered? And if not, how much did it cost to fix?

Also, how urgent is this? I obviously don’t want to let a transmission issue linger, but do I need to fix it ASAP, or could I wait a few weeks to save up if it’s not covered?

Thanks!

Sounds like it could be your torque converter. How many miles are on the car?

Just hit 60k. Had a little under that when I bought it.
