2018 Toyota Camry XSE headlight problem

My daytime running lights work fine during the day, but when I turn on the headlights, one of them stops working.

This light has gone out before, but it was completely dead before, not just flickering. I took it to a Toyota dealership since it was under warranty, and they found a bad relay (though at first, they tried blaming it on a body shop that fixed some minor damage). Knowing that, I tested the relay myself and even swapped it with one I knew worked, but the light still didn’t come on, so I don’t think the relay is the issue.

After looking into it more, I found that the light is missing the cover at the back of the housing (thanks, Toyota). I’m thinking maybe water or moisture got into the light and caused some problems?

Has anyone else dealt with something like this? I’m wondering if I can buy just the internal parts of the light or if I’ll have to replace the whole unit. It’s not a huge issue, but it’s really bugging me because those things are expensive… Any advice would be great! Thanks!

One of my headlights went out the same way after a minor accident. I just went on eBay and bought a new headlight. You’ll need to remove the front bumper to install it, but it’s just a few screws. If you let the dealer do it, they’ll charge you $900 for one headlight, but you can get both for about $300 on eBay.

Definitely going to do it myself, not paying the dealer for this! Glad to hear it’s easy to do.

By the way, I have a 2019 Camry.

That’s enough reason for me to get the aftermarket Lexus-style headlights.

I’ve thought about doing that too but haven’t pulled the trigger. I’m wondering if it’s the light itself that’s faulty or maybe the plug got exposed… hmm :thinking:. But the headlights could be returned, right?

@Fitz
If you buy them on Amazon, you can return them until January 31.
