2020 Corolla showing many safety system errors, anyone else had this?

Hi everyone. I got my 2020 Corolla LE in August 2023 and it was working fine at first. But after taking a long trip and coming back, I tried to park and suddenly saw a ‘Parking Brake Malfunction’ message. Since then, more warnings have been showing up:

  • Parking Brake Malfunction
  • Antilock Brake System Malfunction
  • LTA Malfunction
  • Pre-Collision System Malfunction
  • Secondary Collision Brake System Malfunction
  • Cruise Control Malfunction

Now most of the safety features and front sensors don’t work at all. It’s been almost a year since this started but I’ve only now found time to look into it. The car still drives okay, but I’ve noticed the gas pedal sometimes feels strange, like it skips under my foot. It also seems to struggle a bit when changing gears from a stop.

I replaced the battery a few months ago when it died, but these problems didn’t go away. I’ve seen people online say it could be battery-related, but now I’m wondering if it’s something like the ECM. Has anyone here had something similar happen? Any ideas on what to check next?

Even a new battery can go bad fast, so it’s worth testing it again while the warranty is still active. You should also have the alternator checked to make sure it’s charging correctly. Getting an OBDII scanner could help too—it lets you see and clear error codes which might point you in the right direction.
