Since it’s a hybrid, have you had any electrical issues or problems with the hybrid battery/motor?
The hybrid systems in these cars are really well-made. The ECVT is not a typical CVT; it’s primarily electric motors and planetary gear systems. Very straightforward design and easy to service. The batteries are robust too; just keep the air filter for the battery cooling clean, since it uses cabin air for cooling. The A/C in summer is generally good for it, and age affects the battery more than mileage.

So basically, living in a hot area would be beneficial for hybrid use since you’d typically run the A/C?
Not really; extreme heat can stress the battery, even with A/C. Just aim to keep the filter clean for the battery air intake and use A/C normally. Try not to stress over it; these cars are generally reliable. The A/C in most Toyota hybrids (except maybe the first-gen Prius) runs off the hybrid battery (electric A/C compressor). So you can still use A/C when stopped in EV mode or in traffic. I remember getting 58.6 mpg with my 2017 Prius when I had it.
Is the suspension fine? Is the hybrid battery holding up? Any fluid leaks, now or predicted down the line?
I was going to ask about the alternator, but hybrids don’t utilize them.
Our 2016 Corolla has developed a dashboard rattle that wasn’t present at the start. The engine vibrations are also more noticeable now. It only has just over 60K miles and will be 10 years old this coming October.
I think it’s not so bad. It at least beats all the black interiors everyone seems obsessed with.
Absolutely. I can’t even picture having a car with a black interior. A few months ago, I mentioned that if someone handed me a black car with black seats, I’d just leave it parked on the street with the keys inside and walk away without a care.
