It might not be totaled because they’re estimating it at 13k right now.

Where did you take it for the estimate? Just PDR or with traditional repairs?

To Crash Champions.

@Wei
They’re doing PDR and replacing the hood and trunk with recycled OEM parts.

Take it to Lexus; you don’t have to use a shop State Farm recommends. I’m really sorry about what happened.

I would have to pay the difference since the Lexus collision center isn’t partnered with State Farm.

@Wei
Hopefully, it gets totaled. You can buy it back from State Farm and use it for parts.

I doubt it will; the estimate is currently at 13k. They’re nearly done, so I guess it won’t be totaled.

Very cool. Hope it gets fixed soon!

A while back, my wife’s '15 Lexus ES350 Crafted Edition got hailed on like crazy just 3 days after she got it. There was 14k in hail damage. We took it to Sewell Lexus in Dallas, and they made it look new. I could only find one small defect in a roof drip rail area after it was done, and you could barely see it unless you knew to look for it. Good luck, my friend!

Be prepared – all car insurance companies are a pain. They use substandard parts.

Honestly, it’s possible to fix it! I’ve seen cars get hailed on and repaired. Find a good body shop you trust and ask for OEM parts only; they can negotiate with the insurance. Dealer collision centers aren’t always the best! You might also consider if a PDR specialist can handle this. Just ensure they won’t drill holes in the body! I’ve seen cars with heavy hail damage fixed with just PDR without getting totaled. It depends on the area, service price, and the extent of damage. Hope it’s fixable!

I find it silly how American insurance companies operate.
This car is perfectly fixable in under a week and would be close to brand new. It’s beyond me how some people think this is a totaled vehicle. What a waste of a perfectly good car.

That’s just painful to look at.

Definitely NOT destroyed. It doesn’t even look like you have a cracked windshield. I seriously doubt it’ll be totaled. I grew up in the Panhandle. Good body shops can make hail-damaged cars look new again.

Well, time to get an RCF then.

I wish! lol

Aftermarket parts? Why would they replace parts? Unless maybe they need to replace fenders, hood, doors, and trim and blend with a new paint job on the rest of the car. Everything else can be handled by a paintless dent removal company. But with insurance companies, they may total the vehicle, which is a losing game.

@Zain
The hood cannot be fixed for sure; the paint is cracking. There are too many dents to fix with PDR, so they decided on a replacement for the hood. Thankfully, my friend works at the shop in State Farm’s network, so he’s using recycled OEM parts. This is a mess; the insurance companies are here to profit, not help us in tough times. As of now, they have an estimate of 15k, and they’re still working on it.
