My 2023 Highlander Hybrid Platinum is driving me and my neighbors nuts. The alarm keeps going off randomly while it’s parked outside. I noticed the passenger sill plate light stays on until I open the door, then it turns off when the car goes to sleep. Could that be related? Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks for any ideas!
Maybe try turning off the door light switch in the overhead console when parked. Could be a temperature-sensitive defective door switch causing a current drain. If the false alarms stop, that’s probably it.
@Baer
Thanks! I’ll give that a shot and see if it makes a difference.
Have you checked the key fobs? Pressing and holding the alarm button for a couple of seconds can set it off. It’s easy to press buttons accidentally if the fob is in your pocket.

Both fobs are sitting on a table in the house, so they’re not being touched. I don’t think it’s that, but good thought.
Bad hood switches are pretty common on newer Toyotas. Disconnecting the hood switch might help rule it out.

I’ll try to check that tomorrow. I didn’t pack my travel tool kit, so I’ll see if I can manage without it.

Usually, there’s a connector near the hood latch. Could be under some plastic shrouds, though.
When you unlock the car and it beeps multiple times with the flashers going, that usually means the alarm went off. Might want to have your dealer check the diagnostics to see what’s triggering it.

That makes sense. I’ll probably take it to a dealer later this week to get it looked at. Thanks!
If you’re in Savannah right now with freezing rain and snow, the dealer might be the better option. Sounds like rough weather to troubleshoot in!

Yeah, definitely not ideal. Thanks for the advice—I’ll see what I can do tomorrow!
