I can get either a 5ft or 6ft bed, but my garage is 230 inches long, and the 6ft bed truck is 226 inches. Do you think it’ll be too tight? Would you go with the short bed just to make parking easier?
I’ve got the short bed, but if I had the choice again, I’d go for the long bed.

Same here. I got the 5ft bed with double doors because I have a big dog. Building a fence was a hassle with all the wood hanging out the back, and dump runs were annoying too. Moving stuff is just harder. Next time, I’m getting the 6ft bed, but I plan on keeping this truck until I’m in the ground.
I have a 6ft bed, and no joke, I have about 2 inches between my bumper and the garage door. It fits, but just barely. I think it’s worth it though. The only downside is that I have to open the garage door to access the rest of the garage, and I have to park perfectly every time.
@Wesley
That’s exactly what I’m worried about… I don’t want to end up scratching my truck.

I don’t even park mine in the garage, but I wouldn’t want a shorter bed. You’d miss the extra space when you need it.
You could go for an access cab with a 6ft bed… same total length as a double cab with a 5ft bed.
If it fits, it sits! Either option works.
My grandpa used to hang a tennis ball from the garage ceiling so it would touch the windshield when you were in the right spot. You could do that too. Though with all the cameras in trucks now, maybe that trick is outdated lol.
@Magdalina
Man, that unlocked a core memory. My grandparents had those in their garage 20 years ago, and I never knew what they were for until now.
If you’re getting a truck, get the bed size you actually need. Otherwise, what’s the point?
I bought a 3rd-gen with a short bed and regretted it. Eventually traded for a 4th-gen long bed. Do it right the first time, or you’ll end up like me.

How much worse is the long bed when driving? Does it make a big difference in turn radius? This will be 90% city driving, and I’m also worried about parking downtown.
@Shay
The turn radius is like steering a cruise ship, but you get used to it. The 360 cameras and sensors help a lot with parking.

Haha, Army guy here… I’d compare it to a tank, not a cruise ship. But yeah, I’d probably adjust to it over time.
@Shay
It’s really not that bad. But I also don’t live in a city, so that helps.

Sounds pricey… I’ll stick with my short bed and hope it lasts another 100-200k miles.
@Robe
Yeah, I messed up, but now I have the truck with all the features I want.
Long bed, no question. Also, if you’re thinking about black, just know it’s a nightmare to keep clean.
My buddy convinced me to go with Magnetic Gray instead, and I’ve never regretted it.

Thanks for all the input! My choices are down to either a red long bed or the Underground Hybrid.
