Any good extended warranty options after 3yr/36K?

I was looking through past discussions, and it seems like most people recommend reaching out to Jerry at Midwest Toyota for a Platinum PSA plan. But from what I’ve read, it looks like you have to be under the 3yr/36K mile limit to qualify. I just passed that—3.5 years and 37K miles. What are the options for people in my situation? Would love to hear what others have done.

Best bet is to contact Jerry and see if there’s anything he can do. If not, stay far away from companies like Endurance, Car Shield, and Alpha Warranty. Those guys have tons of bad reviews.

Yeah, I’ve been trying to get in touch with him—calls, emails, even a text. No response so far. Figured he’s probably swamped. By the way, what’s your take on JM&A or CNA National? I see mixed reviews.

@Flynt
I don’t have personal experience with them, but a friend had an issue with Endurance and they completely refused to cover it. He did some research and found a bunch of complaints about them denying claims. Feels like a scam.

@Flynt
That’s exactly what I was worried about. Seems like these companies always have some kind of loophole to avoid paying out.

I spoke with someone else (not Jerry), and they confirmed there’s no wiggle room on the 3yr/36K limit. Now I’m second-guessing my purchase. If this deal isn’t perfect, I might back out and just eat the $1K deposit and flight costs.

@Flynt
If you look at it optimistically, Toyotas generally have solid reliability. You could set aside some money every month instead of paying for a warranty. I do something similar—every time I use my washer and dryer, I throw 50 cents into a pot. Years later, I had enough to buy new ones outright. Might work for car repairs too.

@Zhen
Not a bad idea. I guess I could start a ‘car repair fund’ instead of rolling the dice on a warranty.

So far, the three warranty companies I’ve heard recommended by dealerships are JM&A, Total Care, and CNA National. The Toyota advisor I know swears by Total Care, but Google reviews aren’t great. Anyone here have experience with them?
