Anyone having issues with wireless Apple CarPlay? This pop-up keeps showing up, and I have to press it every time. Now, it’s also disconnecting randomly. My wife’s Hyundai and our VW don’t have these problems. This is really frustrating.
I had the same problem on my Tacoma, even with all notifications turned off. Toyota’s app is so intrusive, I ended up deleting it and removing all permissions. You need to leave the car paired with the app to stop tracking, but at least I don’t get the annoying notifications now. To use remote start, the app requires notifications to be on. It’s frustrating because I’ve had multiple Toyotas, but this kind of thing makes me question sticking with them.
@Vin
I tried deleting everything, but then wireless CarPlay wouldn’t work, even with Wi-Fi connected.

My CarPlay still works, but I had to reset it after deleting the app and permissions.
You can turn off back seat notifications. I also get those annoying pop-ups. It’s really frustrating.

I already did that. Thanks for the suggestion. The disconnecting is still the worst part.
@Kumi
How did you turn off the back seat warning?

It’s in the settings menu you can access via the steering wheel. Just turned off the rear seat warning.

Does the beeping stop too, like when you lock the doors?

Yes, you can disable the beeping. I have passengers in the back without seatbelts, so it’s helpful.
@Kumi
It’s in the driver UI settings, not the main one.
Same problem here with all kinds of notifications, like checking the backseat or leaving doors unlocked. It’s very annoying. Though I think my notifications are tied to the Toyota app, while the OP’s issue might be related to CarPlay.
@Trevor
Yeah, I had to fix the backseat notifications in the car and the app. This issue is just with CarPlay disconnecting.
I didn’t sign up for the app, and that solved the problem for me.
I’m not a fan of Toyota’s approach with the app collecting data. VW is not much better with all their data being out there. I’m sticking to my old car, no new cars with this kind of nonsense.

I’m about to sell my 1997 car and get a 1961 instead. Peace and quiet!
I forced my dealer to turn off the app and gave me remote wireless start for free. They said it came with the app, but I never knew I’d have to pay for it. Now I don’t need the app anymore.

Did they really manage to keep the key fob remote start working without the app? Does the Service Connect button still light up?
@Cale
I got a separate fob for remote start, and no light on it at all.

Smart move! I’ve thought about getting a remote start too, but I hate that Service Connect tracks everything.
