Anyone else hearing about crazy price jumps for RAV4s in Canada… is this real

Been waiting 2 years for a Hybrid RAV4 XSE. Dealer called me last winter saying my car was coming but I passed thinking the current model feels outdated. Now they’re saying next year’s redesign will cost $7k more because of tariffs and stuff. They’re pushing me to take a '25 model now instead. Sounds fishy… anyone else getting this story?

The 2026 model isn’t even announced yet. How would they know pricing? Probably just guessing there’ll be some increase.

They did replace the Venza with the pricier Crown Signia though.

You said you don’t trust dealers… you’re probably right not to.

RAV4s are built in Canada. Sounds like they’re just trying to pressure you.

I was just at the Cambridge plant where they make RAV4s. Engines come from Kentucky but most parts come from nearby suppliers. Finished cars should count as Canadian with no extra fees. Dealer’s feeding you nonsense.

@Dallas
They wouldn’t let us see the assembly line last week - said to come back later. Maybe working on the new RAV4? Who knows.

@Dallas
Lots of parts actually come from the US though.

But free trade rules should still cover those parts.

Many parts come from the US. With new tariffs, those parts cost more now so the whole car costs more. This affects lots of ‘Canadian’ cars.

@Washington
Sounds like an excuse to jack up prices. I bought two RAV4s a month apart - same trim but the second one cost $1500 more for no reason.

I work in auto parts. Prices really are going up because of this. But yeah, sometimes dealers just charge more because they can.

@Washington
Just be honest about it then. Don’t make up stories.

Sometimes prices change even for cars already on the lot if part costs change.

Built in Canada doesn’t mean all parts are Canadian.

My 2025 Woodland is coming soon. Dealer said no tariff effects ‘yet’ but who knows.

I’d get the 2025. First model years always have problems.

Outdated? The current hybrid system is proven. New models often have issues. I’d take the 2025.

They told me same thing - that 2026 will be hybrid-only and $5-7k more. Pushing me to buy gas model now.

2026 will definitely cost more.
