I love being able to go anywhere, but honestly, I rarely use it for that.

Think about how much you’re spending on gas. If you only go off-road a few times a year, renting an SUV when needed might make more sense.
@Maxwell
That’s a solid point. Thanks for the insight.
I’m in LA too, same problem. Makes me miss my Prius.

I switched from a Prius, and yeah, the difference in gas mileage is brutal. But I do love the space in the Forester.
I drive a 2019 Forester, mixed highway and city, and I average 31 mpg. I accelerate lightly and stick to speed limits.
I drive a ‘24 Forester in NYC and it’s always under 20 mpg. But when I take weekend trips out of the city, I get over 30 on the highway. My old ‘21 Mazda CX-30 wasn’t any better in the city, so I guess it’s just the stop-and-go driving.
Looking at the Wilderness model, and the mpg drop from the Sport is crazy.

If you don’t really need AWD, you might want to consider a different car. The new CR-V Hybrid is looking like the best option for mpg in a small SUV.
@Spence
Yeah, the Wilderness model loses about 5 mpg on the highway compared to the Sport. I love the look, but it’s a tough trade-off.

Wow, 5 mpg is a lot. My Premium is a good balance between power and efficiency.
@Spence
Yeah, but the blue Wilderness model looks so good… it’s tough to decide.
