Anyone Having Payment Problems with Toyota Financial Services

@oliviamartin
That sounds exactly like my situation. Call your bank and let them know, ask for statements showing when you made payments to see if those transactions appeared at the time of payment. Keep calling Toyota, no matter how many times it takes to escalate. It’s like talking to a brick wall, but they need to take responsibility for the issue, especially if it’s a faulty payment portal. I’m sorry you’re going through this! And it’s really upsetting to see so many others with similar experiences. I can’t stress enough to monitor Toyota closely.

@Kenan
I did notify my bank, and they said no transaction was taken from my account. The lady was very kind and said I should call Toyota and have them read back the bank info they have on record to make sure it matches my routing and account number. I’m confident it should all be correct because I input that info carefully when I downloaded the app.

@Kenan
I’ve talked to my bank and they said no payment has been recorded in my checking account. The good news is they didn’t take any money out and kept my balance like I didn’t pay. They told me to have Toyota read back my bank info to ensure they don’t have the wrong number. But due to ‘privacy protection,’ they can only confirm the last four digits of my account number. My bank thinks it’s ridiculous since they made me make another payment. If they have the wrong info and keep using it for my payment, it’ll fail like the others. My bank said it’s completely Toyota’s fault for not confirming the full account number and for not notifying me that my payments weren’t successful. I have to call them tomorrow to give my bank info through the phone to make sure they have the correct numbers, but I’ll probably still be past due :cry:

Can you update us on your issue with TFS? I just signed a contract with them.

The same thing just happened to me! I have multiple cars and payments set up, and they all ‘disappeared.’ Also, my banking info didn’t transfer over to the new portal. When I tried to set it up, it wouldn’t accept it and gave erroneous error messages. I had to make payments by phone. Now I’m waiting for their tech support to fix the banking setup issues. Did I miss a notification about them moving their site (they took it ‘in-house’)? You’d think they would have done some data validation during the transfer process and notify impacted account owners. I wonder how many people were affected by this and don’t even know yet!

I’m experiencing the same thing. I just bought a RAV4 Hybrid in December and planned to pay it off in four payments of $7,500 each. My first payment is due on February 3, but my EFT from my credit union was received and then reversed by Toyota. I called both my credit union and Toyota, but there was no resolution. I tried posting the payment again, and the same thing happened. The Toyota Financial website shows this message: As we update our website and payment experience, you may need to add your bank account information again. Once you add and save this information, you can access it for future use. I’m really frustrated with their financial department. I plan to pay off the entire amount next week if I have to carry the funds in one-dollar bills to the dealership.

I suggest anyone with this problem file a complaint online with their State Attorney General and the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. It doesn’t take long, and the feds will contact Toyota and force them to respond.

This happened to me too. It’s worse because I had myself set up for ‘Auto Payment’ and my car payment was automatically taken from my checking account. I did this so I wouldn’t have to worry about missing a payment. I was checking my account to find out my payoff amount and discovered they assessed me a late fee for October and November (the same two months as the person who started this thread). How could this happen? I’ve had automatic payments for two years. I called Toyota and spoke with a nice guy who said they had a computer upgrade right before my October payment and lost my bank info. No email or call to me. They dropped the late fees, but I had to pay with a debit card (no credit card or anything else). I asked if this was reported to the credit bureau since I have an 800 FICO score and don’t want it messed up. I was told it was being reported, but he would notify another department to address it. I had to wait about 30 days, then received a letter saying their investigation determined that the late payments were being reported to the credit bureau. I plan to make some calls this week because I’m furious that my FICO score dropped from 800 to 730. I’ve financed several cars through Toyota Financial Services and always had automatic payments without issues until now. I’m really upset because I work hard for a good credit score and Toyota’s mistake affected me. My advice is to log in once a month to ensure your account reflects all your payments, even if you’re set up for automatic payments from your checking account. I’m unhappy with Toyota in Massachusetts!

@Moe
Same here. I’ve never missed or been late with a payment. My account shows they tried charging my card for $527 yesterday, which is weird because I’ve already paid for the month. That transaction was reversed, and now I have an extra $500 charged on my account for ‘miscellaneous’ due in March. It’s also reflecting on my credit.

This exact thing just happened to me. I extended my lease for six months, and somehow my bank account information got disconnected from their system, so my payments didn’t go through for months. I never received any emails saying I missed a payment. Today, I got an email saying I owe $1,800 and my car is up for repossession. To make it worse, I can’t even make a payment to settle the balance. I tried calling them, but they’re closed on weekends.

@Smart
Did anyone here get their car accidentally repossessed because of this issue?

No, mainly because I’d know if they hadn’t deducted hundreds a month. If you didn’t notice, you’d have plenty of money to pay the amount due.

This is happening to me right now. I have auto payments set up. I tried twice in February to make the payment. The first time was on the due date, but that payment didn’t go through. The second time, I got an email saying my payment was received and there was nothing more I needed to do. Today, I checked the Toyota Financial app, and it still shows a balance with a late fee charged. It says my bank information was removed yesterday, and my previous payment and recurring payment plan were canceled. I didn’t do either of these actions. The app also shows failed and canceled transactions even though I have the money. I don’t want this to affect my credit score. Has anyone had any luck contacting support? Were you able to get your late fee removed? Do you have to pay over the phone every month? I haven’t called yet since it’s the weekend, but I’d appreciate some peace of mind. Now I have to prepare for two car payments to be taken out at once when I thought I already paid last month.

@Blaze
Nope, and I’ve been battling them since November 2023. I’m filing a lawsuit against them and the dealership because they set things up to give customers the runaround intentionally. Suing is the only way I’ll get anything resolved. They’re facilitating, participating, and profiting off of banking fraud and other federal and state crimes in my case.

@Delilah
Horrible service keeps happening.
