Anyone tried this oil made for trucks and SUVs?

Saw a bottle of this the other day and was wondering if anyone here has actually used it. Thinking about whether to try it or just stick with regular Mobil 1.

Exactly. If you’re near a Costco, 10 quarts for $30 is a great deal!

I’ve used it when it was on sale, but I wouldn’t pay more than $10 for 5 quarts. It’s not going to outperform other name-brand 0W-20 oils that meet ILSAC GF-6A specs.

I just grab whatever 0W-20 is on sale at Walmart, usually Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy. Exxon-Mobil actually makes Toyota’s branded oil, so you’re safe there.

That ILSAC rating means you don’t have to worry about brand. Everything beyond that is just marketing.

Never heard of it. Feels like a marketing thing. Maybe they’re targeting towing or heavy-duty use?

I usually go with Mobil 1 Extended Performance (gold label) and change it every 5,000 miles anyway.

Would love to see a Blackstone report comparison between that and the SUV/truck oil.

Blackstone told me I could stretch mine to 7,500, then 8,000 miles. I’ve sent in multiple tests.

@Beck
Which oil are you using?

They even suggested trying 9,000 miles next time.

Great oil. I’ve run that or the high mileage version in my GMs for years.

Still new to the 4Runner—just did the first oil change. Running M1 EP 0W-20 now. My old GM trucks ran 5W-30 with zero issues—one hit 310k miles, another 251k, and I sold one recently with 117k.

Haha, was just about to say the same thing.

Been using that oil for a while. I also add a bottle of Lucas synthetic oil stabilizer in place of one quart.

People are downvoting you because oil additives can actually cause more wear. They’re not required to meet the same standards as motor oil.

Check out the YouTube channel Motor Oil Geek. He dives into oil additives and even does lab testing. He explains how certain additive mixes can make things worse.
