Are Amazon LED kits for interior lights any good?

I’ve been frustrated with how dim the interior lights are in my 2021 TR OR. I’ve used VLEDs before, but their kits are on backorder and way more expensive than what I see on Amazon.

Has anyone tried Amazon LED kits for interior lights? Any problems or success stories to share?

I bought a set called ‘Super Bright 6000K White LED Interior Light Kit’ for my Toyota Tacoma, around $19. It’s been two years, and I haven’t had any issues. Worth the $20 for me.

I got some white LEDs from Amazon. Here’s what I didn’t love:

  1. The lights flicker (strobe effect) when I first turn on the car. It might be a connection issue, but I haven’t looked into it yet.

  2. The vanity mirrors are super bright, almost blinding.

@Kale
I flipped the bulb around in the vanity, and now they’re much more bearable! Hope that helps!

I did the same! Way too bright otherwise.

Just go for Diode Dynamics bulbs. They’re worth the price because you’ll see them every day.

The Diode Dynamics kit is the best out there. Skip everything else.

The Amazon ones are decent if you don’t use them often. But if you want something better, go for Diode Dynamics or Meso Custom.

Diode Dynamics or Meso are definitely the better kits.

Great question. I’ve had these in my Amazon wishlist for a while, and I keep wondering if they’re worth it. I really hate dealing with interior trim pieces, though.

The kit I got came with a trim tool, so I didn’t have to worry about scratching anything. It only took about 10 minutes to install all the interior lights. Totally worth it.

I got a cheap kit from Amazon. It was definitely worth it—20 bucks and a 10-minute install.

My dad has some red/white LEDs in his Tundra, and they actually look pretty nice.

Meso Customs.

I loved the ones I bought for my truck. I liked them so much that I bought a universal kit and switched out the lights in my other two cars.

The universal kit is cheaper and has way more lights.

In my experience, they don’t last very long.

I got some cheap ones, and a couple of them failed quickly. But their customer service was great and sent replacements that have lasted much longer. You definitely get what you pay for in terms of quality control.
