I’ve been getting the AWD and Traction Control warning light on my vehicle. Anyone else here deal with this issue before?
Happened to me last week. It turned out to be a bad battery. I’d suggest getting it tested or just swapping it out.

Thanks for the tip. I don’t think it’s my battery though since I replaced it last year from the dealership.
@Fintan
I thought the same at first, but my battery was under two years old. Luckily, it was still under warranty!

I guess they may have cleared the light after replacing yours. I’m going to have a mechanic check the OBD2 port for code c1280.
Did you fill up with gas recently? If so, make sure your fuel cap is tight.
Also, could your battery be weak? That can cause some weird errors.
Can you read the codes? They might give you more info on the issue.
- I didn’t get gas that day and I always make sure the cap clicks into place.
- Battery was replaced last year at the dealership.
- Code reads c1280.

C1280 is an evap code, so I’d check the gas cap again—just take it off and put it back on and drive around a bit.
If that doesn’t work, did you have any recent work done? I had an evap code once when my mechanic swapped the engine air filter and accidentally knocked loose a hose behind the cover.
@Paxton
I did have a hose from my cold air filter come loose.

That could be it. Clear the code and see if it pops up again.

I’m waiting to see if it comes back.
@Paxton
C1280 is NOT an evap code.
Had the same thing a few months ago. The engine started shaking while idling too. Turned out to be one of the fuel injectors. The extended warranty was a lifesaver.

Extended warranties sure help! Glad it worked out for you. Thanks for the feedback
@Fintan
You’re welcome. Hope yours gets fixed quickly and isn’t too expensive.

Same here Thanks again.

Good luck!
I had something similar with my Toyota Venza. Turned out to be a coil clock spring issue in the steering column (someone did me a ‘favor’ and messed it up). Also, I was told the speed sensor on one of the wheels might be causing the AWD error.
@River
I’ve heard something similar too, that it might be a dirty or faulty speed sensor. Living in New England doesn’t help with that either.

You’ll notice if it’s the wheel sensor because your ABS will start acting up when stopping. It happened to me with my 2012 Highlander and I had to fix the CV axle. There’s also a video from Car Care Nut about replacing a speed sensor.
