Is there a decent DIY kit for something like this, or should I take it to a pro? Just noticed a little rust starting to show—figured that’s not a great sign. Any tips would be super helpful!
You can grab a touch-up paint that matches your color and just dab it on. Or if you’ve got a solid detail shop nearby, they can blend it so well you’d barely even notice. My buddy had to do that after his lunar rock 4Runner became a chew toy for a horse.

Had to read that last sentence twice
Haha yeah, we were out in the field on my farm and the horses got curious. Guess they liked the paint.
I got a color-matched pen from Toyota. Every summer I go over scratches and rock chips. If you want it flawless and don’t mind spending, go to a shop. Otherwise the pen works fine.

I’m not aiming for perfect—just want to stop that rust from spreading. This sounds like the right move. Thanks!

Do you need to do anything special before using the pen? Or just clean the area and apply?
@Lucypiper
Definitely clean first—wash and clay bar the area.
Then apply a bit of touch-up paint and let it fully cure (a few days).
After that, wet sand lightly and polish it. Makes it look like it was never scratched.
@Rudy
Thanks so much!!
