It’s a Smittybilt Overlander. One of the more affordable options; we haggled him down to $500. I think they usually go for around $900 new?
We also camp with a rooftop tent in our Outback. Had a 5-week road trip a few years back, and it was a blast.
Make sure to use a level and some way to level your car; I just use 2x6 lumber pieces. If the car tilts over 1-2 degrees, especially sideways, it’s a rough sleep.
USB-powered devices and power banks are essential. Fairy lights and a hanging fan can really up the comfort.
Also, get a step stool; attaching the rainfly is tricky when the tent’s high up. We keep a doormat by the ladder and hang shoes in a bag near the entrance to keep dirt out.
Straight dad here. Love my Lezbaru.
Be careful not to scissor too hard and fall out!
I thought that having fun in a cramped car was cool, but you lesbians really changed that perception with a roof tent?!?

Definitely wouldn’t want to break the roof bars with that, haha!
I see a potential new porn category here.
But we share so much in common.
I can almost smell it from here.
@Ellis
I’d suggest an aftermarket roof rack system, but if that’s too much, go for these at the minimum: 2015-2019 Subaru Outback Roof Crossbar System – Anderson Design & Fabrication
