When I first sat inside the fifth generation Avalon, I immediately thought its interior could easily compete with many luxury cars.
The design has great detail, like a gently opening center console that activates with a button. The material choices are impressive too, featuring real wood in the trims (the sport versions have lovely real aluminum that looks and feels great as well).
I’m a huge fan of the Cognac leather in the Limited trim. It has this beautiful quilted and perforated look. It’s one of the best designs and color mixes I’ve seen in modern cars. The sport trims are equally attractive with their combination of perforated leather and suede.
Toyota really put a lot of effort into this. It feels like a Lexus without the high price, and it’s unfortunate they decided to discontinue it so soon.

Is that real leather or that fake leather they used in the 4th generation Avalons? That stuff was terrible. Your interior color mix looks amazing.
The Limited trim has genuine leather as standard. It’s perforated and quilted too. The Cognac color option is specific to the Limited.
The XLE comes with SoftTex leather, while the XSE, Touring, and TRD models have ultrasuede leatherette that blends perforated leather with real suede inserts.
I guess I have the leatherette, but it really doesn’t last. So does the Limited have the best interior in the 5th generation Avalon? That’s good to hear.

The sport trims also look fantastic, featuring both leather and suede together.
@Fane
Yeah, I heard there’s a TRD model that sits lower and likely has a stiffer ride because of the suspension setup, focused more on handling than comfort. There’s also a Touring model with a handling-oriented suspension. I really enjoy my 2015 Touring, but I’m looking for an Avalon with a smoother ride. I want something less jarring. My car has only 56,000 miles, and I know it won’t get smoother with age. I’m considering something newer, with low mileage, good reliability, and a smoother ride. That’s why I’m interested in the Limited.
