I’d recommend the RAV4 Hybrid if it fits your budget. If not, the Corolla or Prius are both good choices.
RAV4 Hybrid might be too pricey for me.
The Corolla Hybrid and Prius both use an ‘eCVT’ system with Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive, which uses planetary gears instead of a belt. It’s simpler and generally more reliable. The Corolla Cross is also available with both CVT (gas) and eCVT (hybrid) options.
If you’re considering the RAV4, the Corolla Cross Hybrid might be a good option. It has around 42 mpg, AWD, 8.1 inches of ground clearance, and good cargo space. The base S trim is about $29,570.
The new Prius is impressive with the latest hybrid updates. Check out each model’s power, safety, and HVAC systems, especially if you’ll face winter driving.

Winter driving is minimal here, but we do get a bit of snow or ice a few days a year.
Consider the Corolla Cross if you want something smaller than the RAV4 but with more clearance and storage space than the Corolla. It also has AWD. I bought one this March and love it!
I have a Corolla, and I’ve fit a surprising amount in it with the back seats down. Toyota’s CVTs are generally solid, especially with regular maintenance and fluid changes.
