Agreed, it’s surprising this isn’t standard in North America. I know several mechanics who are confused about why this isn’t recommended here.

It’s all about EPA ratings. If CVT fluid needs to be replaced every xx thousand miles, it counts toward the vehicle’s ‘lifetime’ emissions, affecting EPA scores.
