Got a 2022 Limited, certified pre-owned, with 22,900 miles on it.
Original price was $32k, but after adding a bunch of warranties and a Zurich shield, the price bumped up to $41k. I’m considering returning the warranty for a prorated refund. Traded in my old car for $2k.
There were some cosmetic issues inside, like scratches and scrapes, that I didn’t notice until after I bought it. When I took it back for repairs, the work wasn’t done very well.
Does this sound like a fair deal? The sales team was really pushy, and overall it felt like a shady experience.

Thanks, that’s helpful. They gave me the same trade-in value that I found on KBB for my old car. I did manage to negotiate and have them remove the Zurich shield cost. Planning to return the warranty.
I actually made it with my brother while we were looking for a new car. We wanted to make a tool to help us compare prices and understand the market better. It’s still a work in progress, but feel free to check it out if you want: www.visor.vin
The starting price was okay, but the $9K in add-ons was way too much. You could probably get a new 2024 Limited for only a little more than $41K. Zurich shield likely cost them $100, tops. Do you think you’ll actually use $9,000 worth of warranty claims?
My dealership offered me $33K for my 2022 Limited, which has 24,000 miles on it. It’s in perfect shape, and they’ve done all the maintenance. That feels like a better deal to me.
Try canceling the warranties. The finance guy offered me a lower APR if I added warranties, but I didn’t realize it added an extra $7K to my total. I called Toyota directly, and they helped me cancel the warranties, so I didn’t have to deal with the pushy dealer.
