I’m in the process of deciding between the diesel and petrol versions of the new 2024 Toyota Prado, and I’m torn. I’d really appreciate any insights from people with experience on either engine, or just general pros and cons for both.
I have a 2023 Prado TX-L, Matte Black Edition. I could not find a Diesel at the time that was brand new so I went with Gasoline. From what I have seen/heard from other owners is that with a Gasoline the Maint is cheaper, and the Prado is cheaper, but you will fill up more often. Also in my region (Japan) there is quite the difference in Bhp. The Gasoline is 176 and the Diesel is 208. A diesel cost more, and the Maint cost more, but diesel cost less. My friend has the same Prado as me, but a diesel. He paid significantly more than me. It comes down to your use case. Me, I spend 90% of my time on the road, and the only time I take it offroad is when I go fishing. If you are like me I wouldn’t bother with a Diesel.

Looks amazing! Congrats on that choice!

What kind of lift do you have on this one?

It’s just a 2-inch lift.
Personally, I’d go diesel.
Better fuel economy, more torque at low RPM, and in places like Australia, diesels tend to have better resale, cheaper parts, and are easier to maintain, especially in rural areas where mechanics are more familiar with diesel engines.
