"DING! Roads might be icy." Yeah, thanks, I live in Pennsylvania

Every time I start my 2018 Camry between late November and early March, I get the same annoying “DING” alert. I always think it’s something important, but nope—just “Warning, roads may be icy!”

Yeah, no kidding. I live here. I already know.

Is there any way to turn this off?

It’s getting on my nerves, and the fact that it happens 30 seconds after I start driving makes it even worse.

Yeah, it’s pretty useless. I doubt it actually helps anyone stay safe. As far as I know, there’s no way to turn it off.

Mine goes off at 37 degrees, which feels way too early. I park in a heated garage, so it doesn’t even activate until I’ve been driving for a few miles.

Bridges and overpasses can start freezing when the air temperature drops below 37 degrees. It also factors in sensor error, which could be off by a few degrees. Still, I get why it’s annoying.

It always dings right when I’m focused on something, making me take my eyes off the actual icy road to read that it might be icy.
