I’ve got $500 Sennheiser headphones, Sony XM4s, and a Sony surround system in my living room. I’ve been in other Toyotas with JBL, and honestly, nothing beats it. I find myself listening to music in my car most of the time now
I don’t hate it, but my subwoofer shakes even with a little bass. It’s hitting the frame of the package shelf. I’m planning to shove some foam between the frame and shelf to stop the rattling.

The rattling is easy to fix. Take off the grill from the rear deck. There’s a plastic rib around the subwoofer, and it touches it at the worst moments. Drove me nuts! I trimmed that rib down, and the vibration stopped completely.
@TundraTroopers1
You should make a video showing how to do this and upload it. People would love that!

Same issue here. It’s super annoying.
@Raenys
I had this problem with my 17 Civic subwoofer too. I just got used to it after a while. My 24 Elantra doesn’t have that issue, though.

That’s weird. I don’t think I’ve had that issue. Have you tried adjusting the treble, mids, and bass settings? I might’ve had it early on, but I can’t remember now lol.
@Minta_Good
Yeah, I’ve played around with the settings. Apparently, it’s been a thing since the 8th gen came out in 2018. Toyota has a kit to fix the issue, but you’ve got to take apart a lot of the backseat to install it.
You’ve gotta check out Mark Levinson sound systems

I’m kinda loyal to Sennheiser and Sony, so JBL impressing me in my car was a surprise lol.

Mark Levinson is a car audio system, mainly found in Lexus vehicles.
I have the JBL Audio Upgrade in my TRD, and I think it’s terrible. My old car had Harman Kardon speakers, and they were way better.

I really like the Bose system in my Elantra. Harman Kardon does make some of the clearest speakers for cars, though.
@Freddie
HK in my Impreza sounds awesome, especially the bass!
My JBL system in the 5th gen is so loud it drowns out the creaking suspension lol.
You should listen to Mark Levinson (Lexus), Bang & Olufsen (Audi), Harman Kardon (BMW), Burmester (Mercedes), AKG (Cadillac), Meridian (Range Rover), Bose (Porsche), or Klipsch (Infiniti QX80).
The Bose in Hondas and JBLs in Toyotas tend to vibrate because the rear baseboards are thin. They put in premium audio but didn’t design for good acoustics, sadly.
No one who loves music would ever say JBL is good. It’s awful. There are tons of posts proving it’s garbage.

I don’t have JBL either (mine is Bose), but I can understand why people aren’t fans.
