The fifth generation marks the Avalon’s grand finale, and its interior is one of the most elegant and impressive designs I’ve seen in modern cars.
Take the Limited model with Cognac leather as an example. Beyond the design, notice the details like the aluminum trim on the doors, the center console with a smoothly damped lid that opens at the press of a button, and the soft-touch materials even in places you wouldn’t expect, like around the cupholders.
It gives off a premium feel that exceeds its price point and outshines many modern luxury cars. It’s reminiscent of a Lexus interior, but without the steep price tag.

I agree completely. It would be even better if it had the new Camry’s steering wheel and dashboard setup.
I’m not a fan of the new Camry’s dashboard design, but I do think a slightly larger infotainment screen would improve the Avalon. The right side of the new Camry’s dashboard has a weird design I can’t get used to.
Front-wheel drive (FWD) automatically disqualifies the luxury label for me. That said, it’s not a bad interior for a Camry XL-tier vehicle, but I wouldn’t call the center console particularly elegant.
Looking at the 2020 Toyota Avalon Hybrid, it does have a cohesive design with some upscale touches. However, if you subtract the trackpad and add a gated shifter, it would approach absolute perfection—functional, simple, and timeless.
