Does this Tundra’s frame look bent to you?

I’m thinking about trading my RAV

quq4 for a first-gen Tundra. Found a 2004 model with the exact specs I want—81k miles for $10,000. The listing says two owners and no accidents, but the price seems almost too good.

One of the photos looks like the truck might be bent right where the bed meets the cab. Does anyone else see that, or is it just me

It doesn’t look straight, I’ll give you that.

It could be from hauling heavy loads too often. Might be a bent frame or worn-out leaf springs. You’d need to check it in person, ideally on a lift. Get a pre-purchase inspection, and a mechanic can confirm if it’s the frame or just something like the springs.

Could be the camera angle. Go take a look at it.

Yeah, maybe it’s just the fish-eye distortion from the camera.

Price seems fair but not too good to be true. I got my 2000 model for $8k two years ago during the COVID pricing madness. If everything checks out, maybe offer $9,250 and see what happens.

The lines at the top of the bed and cab are almost two inches wider than at the bottom. Looks off.

The gap between the bed and cab looks a bit suspicious.

Looks like a cat that’s been startled.

Might have been rear-ended?

Could just be rust.

What would rust cause to make it look bent like that?

If the frame is heavily rusted, it could lose its structural strength and bend.

These trucks are known to sometimes snap in half from rust. Definitely worth checking.

@Laken
Thanks. I’m from the South, so I’m not as familiar with rust damage and what to look for.

Got a bit of a hump going on there…

You should get underneath and poke the frame with a screwdriver to check for rust. Bring a long level to check if it’s straight too.

Looks like it was either rear-ended or overloaded.

Hard to tell from this photo angle.

This is definitely worth a closer inspection. That generation of Toyota wasn’t known for strong frames. Could be rusted, damaged, or repaired after an accident.
