I’ve always wanted either an FJ Cruiser or a Land Cruiser. I guess I actually wanted a Prado this whole time. Just wish the back door was a split door or tailgate … it would be so practical.
Totally get what you mean about the split tailgate. But if it’s not on the 300 anymore, maybe they’re done with it for good.

Yeah, it’s a real shame.
No tailgate feels odd, right? It’s just not the ‘American’ Land Cruiser feel we’re used to. Still, it’s got that capability, and I think the look is spot-on.

Land Cruisers aren’t exactly ‘American’ anyway, honestly. It’s more of a global design, we just got certain versions.
Some say the 2UZ V8 was there to get American buyers in, since V8s are big here.
The 4Runner, though, was North America focused … and it’s always had a vertical hatch.

The 4Runner actually had a tailgate in its first two generations. I miss my second gen!
Is that in an underground garage? I’m getting mine soon and am thinking of doing a black roof wrap.

Nope, it’s actually black with a matte clear PPF and white vinyl on top.

I was lucky to own a 2007 TRD FJ, then a Tacoma, and now the ‘58 Land Cruiser. I can honestly say this is the best one. Congrats, looks amazing.

4Runner still has the roll-down. J250 flips up … it’s like a half-tailgate kind of thing. GX460 does it too, if you want a pic.
