Entune phone issues, is it just us? Vote and share your experience

We have two Tacomas, a 2024 and a 2000, and the phone audio has been terrible. Sometimes people can’t hear us at all, and we think it’s a mix of the speaker and Entune, even though we have a full signal.

There’s a lot of info out there, but it’s all over the place. Some say it’s bad cell reception, others say it’s hardware, the microphone, outdated firmware, or even CarPlay. From what we’ve seen, Entune seems to be the issue, but since it happens randomly, we can’t show the problem when we take it to the dealership.

Toyota says we’re the only ones who have reported this and won’t replace our audio systems. Is anyone else having the same problem?

I have a 2019 RAV4 and a 2025 Land Cruiser, no issues like what you’re describing.

You’re definitely not the only one. A lot of Tacoma owners have complained about bad phone audio with Entune, especially in newer models. Some common issues people report include poor call quality, bad microphones, and Bluetooth randomly cutting out.

Possible Causes & Fixes:

  • Entune software updates
  • Microphone placement or quality
  • Bluetooth interference
  • Factory reset (as a last resort)

Some folks have had success by doing a factory reset on the head unit, but keep in mind this will erase all your settings, so make sure to back them up first.
