I was driving when I started hearing constant bumps and thought I had a flat tire. I pulled over and found this big screw in my tire (photo attached). The tire still seems to hold air, but I’m not sure what to do next. I have Progressive Roadside Assistance and ToyotaCare—does anyone know if ToyotaCare covers this, or should I call Progressive? Any advice would be great!
I took mine to Discount Tire, and they fixed it for free.

Why do they fix it for free?

They hope you’ll come back when you need new tires.
@Quin
I had to replace mine. I towed it to Toyota, and they charged me $360.

You got double-screwed.

I should’ve gone to Costco instead.

You could’ve bought a new tire for that price.

Never go to a dealership for tire repairs. Any tire shop would’ve done it cheaper or free.

They hope you’ll buy tires from them later. They also check for other maintenance needs.

Do they fix it for free even if you didn’t buy the tires from them?

Yes, they fix it for free to build goodwill.

Most tire shops will patch a tire for free, no matter where you bought it.
That’s a big screw, but the good news is it’s in a spot that’s easy to patch.

I had one in the sidewall last week. I had to buy a new tire.

Same thing happened to me two months ago. I was so mad.
Just get it patched.
This happens a lot. It’s an easy fix and might even be free depending on where you go.

@Ashton
Just go to a tire shop. It’s in a good spot for a patch or plug.
