I was using Yokohama Blue Earth tires, but they wore out at about 40k miles. My MPG went from 42 to around 36-38. I thought they should last longer and were quite expensive. I looked into other options like Michelin, Pirelli Scorpions, and almost got Yokohama Ascend, but missed the sale by 15 minutes. Ended up with Hankook ST tires, which were installed poorly at the dealership. However, my MPG jumped to 43.7 right away, though I did experience a few sensor issues during a road trip. Overall, the ride is comfortable, and the handling seems fine. What tire experiences have others had? Let me know your thoughts.
Is this all flat freeway mileage? That’s surprising

Hybrids tend to do worse on the freeway.

I drive in eco mode and try to accelerate and decelerate slowly. The freeway actually hurts my MPG.

Sorry if this is random, but how do you get the display to show that info? I tried scrolling through options with the < > buttons but couldn’t find it.
@madisonwilson
If you hit the down button (on the left side of the steering wheel), you should get to a screen that shows the info. It’s usually next to the speed screen, sometimes with an info icon.

Awesome, that worked! Looks like you can scroll with the up and down arrows to get more options.
@madisonwilson
I don’t see that option on my car.
I’ve used Pirelli Scorpions on another car, and they were much quieter and more efficient than the Goodyears it came with. I’m planning to get them again once I need new tires.

Same here. If I keep this 2024 model long enough to need new tires, I’m getting the Pirelli Scorpions. Had them on my Highlander and they were the best tires I’ve ever had.
@Arden
My last car was an X5. After the Scorpions wore out, I tried Bridgestone Alenza and didn’t like them at all. I haven’t tried Michelins or Yokohamas but I liked the Scorpions so much I don’t want to risk trying others.

Please keep me updated on how the Pirellis affect your MPG. I’m really curious.
@Clarke
It’ll probably be a few years before I know. I wish there were better tire tests available. Most reviews I see are just customer opinions and they don’t offer direct comparisons, which makes it hard to decide.
@Aris
I researched this for days. The dealership listed the Hankooks as not being high efficiency, but so far they’ve been better than the originals.
You might also want to think about gas blends, especially if you’re using winter blends in your area. That could impact the MPG as well.

I’m in Arizona.
I have Yokohama Ascends on my car in Illinois. My wife drives most of the time and gets around 33.4 MPG, but I can usually get closer to 40 on longer trips. We’ve put about 50k miles on them and they still look great.
I have the Yokohama Geolander X-CV tires on my new wheels (I switched from 18” to 20”). My MPG dropped to 32, but the grip and handling are better and there’s less tire/road noise.
