Hit a curb and this happened. Do I need to replace the tire or can it be repaired? Thanks for any advice.
From what I know, sidewall damage can’t be repaired. It’s dangerous, so you’ll need a new tire.

Exactly. Punctures in the tread can be patched, but sidewall damage means the tire needs to be replaced. Tears in the tread or sidewall also mean replacement.
I’d replace it. Driving with a damaged sidewall is too risky.
You’ll need a new tire. If you have AWD, you might need to replace all four if the others are worn down.

Unless the other tires are within 2/32” of the new one, then you might not need to replace all four.
You can probably drive it to the tire shop, but that’s it. As it gets warmer, the risk of a blowout increases.
If you can see the belts, replace it. Otherwise, you risk a blowout if you hit a pothole. Better safe than sorry. (I work with tires.)
It’s totaled.

Toyotaled.
I’m not a tire expert, but if this isn’t the drive wheel, swap it around. If it blows out, you’ll have better control.

Got it, thanks!
Same thing happened to my winter tire last month. Replace it.
It could affect handling, especially at high speeds.
Don’t drive on that tire. The sidewall is the strongest part. A pothole or sharp turn could cause a blowout.
And that rim scratch…

Looks like the previous gen XSE black rims. I fixed a similar scratch with touch-up paint. It worked well.

I know, it’s driving me crazy.
Thanks everyone for the advice!
