How do I fix door trim plastic? Any tips?

Looking for advice on how to restore or fix scuffed door trim plastic. I’ve babied my car, but these marks are really frustrating. Not sure if it’s just age or something else. Any suggestions?

Try using some Meguiar’s PlastX with a microfiber towel. A bit of elbow grease should help smooth things out.

Thanks, I’ll give this a shot!

You could look into JDM door panel covers. They’re designed to protect the panels where your feet might scuff them. Something like this: JDM door trim panel covers.

Subaru makes door scuff protectors specifically for this problem. Might be worth checking out.

Totally agree with this suggestion!

You can try gently heating the area with a heat gun. It might help to restore the surface.

That’s an interesting approach. I’d like to hear how it turns out.

I have the same issue with my Impreza, and it drives me crazy! These marks seem to appear no matter how careful I am.

Same here. I take really good care of my car, so it’s frustrating. I might start with the heat gun idea and see how it goes.

Here’s an idea: spray some paint into a shop towel (away from your car) and use the towel to dab lightly over the scuffed areas. Try to blend it with the original color. Let me know if you need more details.

@JACI
If the plastic is kinked or heavily damaged, you might need to replace the panel. Fixing that type of damage is extremely tough.
