How do I reset the ac amplifier on a toyota?

So, i tried disconnecting the negative terminal for like a minute to reset my toyota’s ac, but no luck. took it to a garage and they said it’s the ac amplifier. now they’re telling me to go to the dealer. anyone here ever reset the amplifier on their own? would really appreciate some help!

yeah, you need to disconnect the battery for a bit longer, like 20 mins, to fully reset the modules. try that first!

yep, 20 mins usually does the trick. if not, a scan tool might be your next best bet.

I had the same issue with mine last month! ended up using an oem scan tool to reset it, but you could try borrowing one from a shop if the battery trick doesn’t work.

what’s an oem scan tool? :thinking:

@Blane
it’s basically a tool used to communicate with your car’s computer. some brands are autel or snap-on, but they can be pricey. sometimes auto shops will do it for free tho!

oh, makes sense! thanks for explaining. maybe i’ll look into that if i have issues.

if you don’t have a scan tool, you can try resetting codes by disconnecting and reconnecting the amp manually. worked for me once but it’s kinda hit or miss.

oh interesting, i didn’t think of that! i’ve already reconnected the amp but maybe i’ll try again after the battery trick.

@Aris
just be careful with the wiring when reconnecting. sometimes those plugs can get loose.

also check the fuse. sometimes it’s just a blown fuse causing the problem. happened to me once and replacing the fuse fixed the ac right up.

oh true! i didn’t even think of that. i’ll check the fuses too just in case.
