What made you choose the RT45s?
They were reasonably priced, had decent reviews, and were in stock when I needed them. Nothing fancy, but they’ve been solid.

Great choice! I’ve got them on my 2014 Outback and my 2009 Vibe, and they’ve been excellent.
Here’s my experience:
I’ve also had great success with Falken Aklimates on my WRX—they even performed well during icy conditions in Nebraska.
@Dane
That’s good info, thanks.
@Dane
Thanks for sharing! I’m considering Aklimates for my WRX, and this helps confirm my decision.
My 2018 Highlander is on its third set of tires at nearly 97K miles:
My stock tires lasted about 30K miles before I replaced them at 4mm tread depth.
If you’re using OEM Yokohama Avid GTs, it’s surprising you got 30K out of them. Mine started slipping in light rain at 20K. I replaced them with Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActives, and they’ve been great so far.
@Ashwin
Thanks for the tip.
30K on stock tires isn’t bad, but it’s on the lower end of normal. Did you replace them with OEM tires, or did you go with something different? Good-quality aftermarket tires can last 50–60K easily.

I went with the same OEM tires. I realize now that might’ve been a mistake.
@Wayne
Yeah, OEM tires tend to wear faster. Next time, skip the dealer and go to a local tire shop for better options.

Lesson learned. Thanks!
