How much do you pay for insurance and what do you drive?

I drive an '06 Harley Edition with the 5.4 engine, and my insurance is about $1,300 for six months. I’m in central New Mexico. What do you drive, and how much are you paying for insurance?

Insurance costs depend on a lot of factors, like where you live, your driving history, and even if you own a home. Higher coverage limits can add to the cost too. Shopping around is usually the best way to find what works for you.

This is true, but rates are also affected by the area you live in and the overall claims in your state. I’m an independent agent, and I see rates climbing everywhere. Sometimes, renewing your policy without an increase feels like a win.

I drive a 2016 XLT SuperCrew 4x4 with the 2.7L engine, and I pay around $750 a year for full coverage.

That seems really high. I’m 28, and I pay $110 a month for full coverage on my ‘11 SuperCrew with a $100 comprehensive deductible. I’d recommend checking out a local insurance broker. They often find better rates compared to going directly through major companies.

I’m 19, and I live in an area with high insurance rates. That probably explains the cost.

Being 19 definitely impacts your rate. Insurance costs for men under 25 are typically much higher. You might qualify for discounts if you ask your provider. For example, federal employees or people in certain professions often get lower rates.

If your area has high rates, could you list your car under a family member’s address in a better area? That might save you a lot. Also, do you have any relatives in the military? USAA is a great option if you qualify.

I have a 2013 XL 5.0, and I pay $850 every six months. I bundle it with my home insurance, but living in Florida means rates are still higher than they should be.

My 2019 5.0 4x4 costs $37 a month for full coverage with $500 deductibles and 100/300 liability limits. Having great credit and bundling with homeowner’s insurance makes a big difference.

At your age, it’s not surprising to see high rates. If your truck is older and paid off, I’d suggest switching to liability-only coverage to save money.

I have to carry full coverage since it’s financed.

I have a 2017 Explorer, a 2016 F-150, and a 2005 Mustang. All are covered for $180 a month with full coverage.

I pay a little over $1,300 a year for four vehicles, with two having full coverage.

In Ontario, I pay $1,200 a year for full coverage with $2 million liability on my 2014 F-150 STX.

I pay about the same as you for multiple vehicles and recreational items: a 2019 Super Duty, a 2022 Bronco, a 2012 F-150, a camper, and even a pontoon boat.

I’m 24, and I pay $130 a month for my truck.

I drive a 2018 XLT SuperCrew with the 3.5L engine, and my rate is $702.58 for six months in California. Shopping around might help you find a better deal.

I drive a 2012 model and pay about $425 every six months.

For my 2016 Lariat Screw 4x4, I pay around $1,000 every six months. My policy includes 100/300/100 liability limits, medical payments, rental, roadside, and UM coverage.
