How often do you change your key Fob battery?

I have been proactive and have been doing it once a year, but I am not sure if that is necessary. If it matters at all, I have the Camry’s smart key.

Fob batteries are said to have a three-year shelf life.

Do you replace the battery in the FOB proactively or do you wait till it becomes unresponsive?

For a Toyota Camry smart key, the battery typically lasts around 1-2 years with regular use. While the battery itself might have a shelf life of three years, factors like usage frequency and environmental conditions can affect its actual lifespan.

I would advise you to change your battery once a year is a good practice to ensure you don’t get caught with an unresponsive key fob at an inconvenient time.

A car key fob battery’s typical lifespan can change depending on a number of variables. These batteries typically last between three and five years. This estimate is a good generalization, but it’s important to remember that some key fobs may have shorter or longer lifespans.

A key fob battery usually lasts 1-3 years, but this can vary based on how often you use it, the temperature, and your car model. Most car makers suggest changing the battery within this time frame.
