How to find a new Highlander XLE right now?

I’ve been on the hunt for a Highlander XLE for the past month, but every single one is either already spoken for or sold before it even hits the dealership. It’s insane. I’m not a fan of buying a car I haven’t seen in person, but I’m starting to think I might have to. What do you guys think? Any advice?

Get on a list. Let the dealer know what options, colors, or features matter most to you, and which ones you’re flexible on. Dealers can do the hunting for you. You might need to put down some earnest money to show you’re serious.

I was trying to get a Limited earlier this year and gave up after losing out on six that were supposedly on their way to the dealership. Ended up buying a '21 instead, and while I wish I had the updated tech (my ‘21 doesn’t have the 360 camera), I’m just relieved the search is over. Get on a list and let the dealer do the work for you.

Dealership allocations are based on sales volume, so try looking in bigger markets. We bought our 2022 without seeing it—no choice on colors or options, just took what we could get. Be prepared to wait a few months if you go this route.

I’ve got a clean 2022 and honestly thinking of selling it to take advantage of this crazy demand. I love it, but I might be able to make a profit.

Let us know how it goes if you decide to sell!

I know where you can find one if you’re willing to head to Michigan.

I’m in Arizona, but I could fly up and drive it back.

Germain Toyota of Dundee, MI has an XLE in Moon Dust for around $48,000 that just came in last week. Check out their website for contact info.

I just got lucky. We were out looking at new 2023s but found very limited stock. While driving to another dealer, my wife spotted a 2022 XSE nearby with only 15K miles on it. We snagged it that day—happy to have the V6!

All the used ones I test drove just didn’t feel right… felt like they had hidden issues, and I didn’t want someone else’s problems.

No big issues at 15K miles. I’m at 24K now and haven’t had a single problem.

@Blaze
Glad to hear your Highlander’s running well!
