How wide is the bed on a 1995 Toyota Tacoma 4WD? Anyone know?

Hey y’all, I’ve got a 1995 Toyota Tacoma four-wheel drive and I’m trying to figure out how wide the bed is. I know it’s not a full-size truck, but I want to make sure it’ll fit some gear I’m planning to haul. Anyone got the exact dimensions or info? I’ve heard it’s around 60 inches, but I want to double-check with someone who knows. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, the bed on the 1995 Tacoma is around 60 inches wide, give or take. I’ve had mine for years, and I can fit a 48-inch sheet of plywood with no problems and still have a little space on the sides.

That’s awesome! So, it’s definitely wide enough for basic gear like camping stuff and some construction materials, right?

@Milan
Yup! I’ve hauled camping gear, toolboxes, and even building materials with no issues. You’ll have room to spare. The bed’s not huge, but it’s super practical.

FYI, the bed is about 73 inches long too, so it’s pretty balanced in terms of size. You can add a bed extender if you ever need more room for longer items.

@Graydon
Oh cool, I didn’t know you could add a bed extender to the Tacoma. Might have to look into that for bigger loads!

For sure, they’re easy to install and make a big difference if you’re hauling longer stuff. I’ve used one to move furniture and it worked great.

I’ve had my '95 Tacoma for years, and the bed has never let me down. Whether I’m hauling camping gear, work tools, or just random stuff, the 60-inch width has always been enough. If you’re thinking about getting one, I say go for it. They’re the perfect balance of size and capability.

Does anyone know if the 1995 Tacoma bed is the same width as newer models? I’ve been thinking about upgrading, but I don’t want to lose the compact size that makes it so easy to handle.

Good question! Newer Tacomas are wider. I think the 2024 models have bed widths up to 66 inches, so you’d definitely get more space. But if you like the compact size for off-roading, the 1995 version is better for tight spots.

@Devlin
Ahh, gotcha. Yeah, I do a lot of off-roading, so the smaller size is a plus for me. I guess I’ll stick with my old '95 for now!

@Devlin
Same here! I feel like the older Tacomas are perfect for getting into those narrow off-road trails. I’ve thought about upgrading too, but the handling on these older models is hard to beat.

If you’re using it for off-roading, that 60-inch width is actually pretty nice. It’s wide enough to carry everything you need but narrow enough that it doesn’t mess with your balance on rough terrain. I’ve taken mine out on some pretty gnarly trails and it’s always held up!

@River
Totally agree with you on that. I take mine camping a lot, and the bed is just the right size for all my gear without making the truck feel bulky.

Same here! I can pack it full of camping gear, recovery equipment, and still have room for a cooler. It’s all about packing smart.

@River
What kind of recovery gear do you usually bring? I’ve been thinking about upgrading my kit but don’t want to overload the bed.

I usually pack a winch, recovery boards, a shovel, and some extra straps. It all fits pretty easily, and I still have space for other stuff. Definitely recommend a solid toolbox to keep it all organized though!

A toolbox is a game changer for sure. I mounted one to the side of my bed, and it keeps everything secure and out of the way.

I always thought the 1995 Tacoma bed was smaller, but 60 inches is pretty decent. I’ve been looking at one for my farm. Do you think it would hold up for hauling tools and small equipment?

Oh, for sure. It’s not a full-size truck, but that bed can handle a surprising amount. I use mine for hauling stuff all the time, and it holds up great.
