How Will Tariffs Impact the Price of Vehicles?

My Sienna’s build started yesterday. I’ve been waiting for 1.5 years to pay the sticker price, but it would be a bummer if parts get an extra charge because of tariffs. On the plus side, my trade-in car is probably worth more now.

@Casey
You’ve been waiting since 2023 for your Sienna?

Yes. I put a deposit down on October 5, 2023. I’m in the SF Bay Area and didn’t need the car urgently. I’m getting an AWD Limited with basically no add-ons.

@Casey
Can you share how much you paid? Did they sell it to you with no dealer add-ons or extra charges? Thanks.

I paid $1,125 for options: pearl white paint ($475), inverter ($300), all-weather mats ($260), and wheel locks ($90). The total came to $54,775 with the options included.

@Casey
Thanks for the details. It’s still so expensive. I hope it’s worth it for you.

The transmission in the 2025 Sienna is made in Japan.

I did some quick research. The hybrid transaxle for the Sienna is made in West Virginia, the engine is built in Indiana, and final assembly is done in Indiana too. While there will definitely be some increase in price due to tariffs on raw materials or parts, the Sienna seems well protected from the first round of tariffs.
