I bought a certified used 2023 Corolla back in January with around 33,500 miles on it. I just hit 35,000 miles and I’m wondering if I should do maintenance already or wait until it’s been about six months, which would be around June. I’m new to owning a car, should I just follow what the manual says?
If you’re not sure when the oil was last changed, it’s a good idea to just change it now. I always reset everything when I buy a car so I know exactly when things were last done. No need to guess.
Since it’s a certified used car, you probably got a copy of the Carfax. You can check the last record there. If it was serviced in December 2024 at 33k miles, then you’re likely good until around June 2025 or 38k miles for the next oil change.
If it was certified, then the dealership should’ve done all the needed maintenance before selling it.
Take a look at the fluids — check the color and level. You can also ask the dealer what was done during the service. If you’re planning to keep the car a long time, like past 300k miles, it’s smart to change all fluids now and then again every 50k. Oil should be every 5k.
That sounds like solid advice to me.
