Is Subaru sharing driving data with insurance companies?

Car companies can access DMV records, so they don’t even need built-in tracking to get mileage info.

Most insurance companies don’t even look at mileage unless it changes a lot.

@Nyle
Mine does. My rates jumped 30% because they said I drove more last year. Only reason was a road trip to Yellowstone.

That’s a good point. Thanks for sharing.

This isn’t just Subaru. Any manufacturer with a connected app is probably doing the same thing. Had a Chevy before and they tracked all kinds of data too.

It’s frustrating how they tie important car features to data collection. You shouldn’t have to agree to data sharing just to use your car’s safety features.

I always get emails about mileage-based insurance quotes and extended warranties right when I pass a certain mileage mark. Feels like my data is being shared somewhere.
