I’m looking at getting a 2009 Corolla and came across a good deal on an XRS. Is it worth the extra money, or should I stick with a lower trim? Let me know your thoughts!
Based on what I’ve read, I’d recommend avoiding the XRS. I think the S trim is a better option.
I own a 2009 XRS Matrix. It does burn a bit more oil, but it has some suspension upgrades that I don’t think the S trim has. It handles really well, and with the 5-speed, I can get good speed out of it.
1000% go for the XRS. Both versions burn oil, so you might as well enjoy the extra fun!
The 2AZFE engine in the XRS has oil burning problems. The Corolla S would be a better choice—less horsepower, but less hassle overall.
Go for the S trim.

Why do you prefer the S trim? Is it more reliable, or does it have a better resale value?

Honestly, the S trim was my first car, so I have great memories with it. It always ran well, too.
