This looks like a great find! The previous owner didn’t drive it much, maybe less than 4K miles a year. It could have been an elderly driver or a second car. I recommend getting an independent mechanic to check it out for you. Be upfront with them about your concerns, and if everything looks good, go for it. The scratches on the paint seem like they might be from a minor scrape, so no major issues there.

Looks like the car actually has 135K miles, not 35K, and it hasn’t had an oil change recorded. It spent 11 years in MA, so it might have rust issues.
@Raine
Good find! So the car has 135K miles and no service records in CarFax, which is a bit concerning. It either means the previous owners didn’t care or the service centers didn’t update CarFax. Either way, it’s worth getting checked out by a mechanic.
@Arlo
That’s possible. I’ve seen cars with no CarFax records because the owners didn’t take their car to a dealership. When I traded mine, most of my maintenance wasn’t in CarFax either.
@Arlo
Honestly, CarFax isn’t always accurate. For example, tire rotations aren’t always reported. What matters more is the condition of the tires and whether they’re too old. I’d definitely recommend a mechanic’s inspection to check for any hidden issues, like poor repairs or engine/transmission problems.
@Gerald
That’s a great point. Since this is an AWD vehicle, if the tires are original, they may be worn unevenly. It’s a good idea to check the tire’s manufacturing date before moving forward.
Try negotiating the price a little and see if you can get a better deal.

It’s easier said than done, especially with Siennas. Most dealers don’t budge much on these models.

I don’t think they’ll lower the price. It’s only been on the lot for less than a day.

If you’re not in a rush, you could wait a month and see if it’s still available. I’d be willing to pay $10-15K if it had a better CarFax. Since the CarFax looks bad, I’d bring my own mechanic to check it out. If the car’s only been on the lot for less than a day, I don’t think they’ll negotiate much.
This is a steal! I’m sure they just made a mistake with the mileage and it’s actually only 35K miles. It’s in great shape. If I hadn’t just bought a 2014 with 26K miles, I’d be all over this one.

I hope you had it inspected thoroughly. A car with that few miles could have issues with rubber seals, hoses, and fluids from sitting around too much. Be cautious about those things.
@Kale
I know the previous owners, and they took really good care of it. It was an older couple with no kids, and the car was always kept in a garage.
Make sure to check under the car. The muffler or wheel wells usually show signs of rust. Check the oil too, see how dark it is and if it’s low. Look at the other fluids as well. That’ll give you a sense of how well the car’s been maintained. If everything checks out, I’d take a chance on it for that price, as long as there are no hidden dealer fees. On Toyotas, age matters more than mileage, and this one has very low miles, which is a good sign.
Not worth it. Very low mileage means there could be hidden engine issues. $19K is way too much for a car that’s 11 years old.

I don’t think so. The person who traded it in got a mobility van, so it’s probably just an older vehicle.
@Nev
Very short trips are actually worse for the engine. Idle time is bad too.

If there’s a risk with the engine, what would be a fair price for you?

If it’s been maintained properly, mainly with regular oil changes, I wouldn’t worry too much about the mileage. I bought a 2014 with 32K miles, had it inspected, and then changed all the fluids. No problems at all since. Now I’m at 58K miles, still no issues. As long as the engine’s been cared for, it should last. I’d be more concerned about rust, though.
