Is this a good first car or should I keep looking?

Looks decent, but always get it checked by a mechanic first.

Was about to say the same thing. Always a smart move.

Seems alright. Not amazing, not terrible. Definitely take it to a good mechanic before deciding.

Always get a mechanic to check it before buying. Even if it takes time to find a good shop, it can save you a ton of money and might help you negotiate the price too.

The ad says XLE but the picture shows XSE. Just a heads-up, those are different trims.

I think it’s a solid deal. If you’re buying from a dealer, expect the final price to go up. I got a car listed for 15.5k, and after financing, fees, and interest, it ended up being about 22k. They might also try to sell you extras you don’t need. How much they add depends on your credit and down payment.

Looks alright.

If you can, go for a 2016 model. That’s when all Toyotas started coming with radar cruise, lane assist, and other safety features.

I’d go for it. If you’re financing, check with a local credit union. They usually have better rates and offer warranty plans that cost way less than what dealerships push. Try to find one that’s certified pre-owned.

It’s not 12k… more like 18k, but okay.

Way overpriced. Should be around 7k.

Maybe in a different market, but used cars, especially Toyotas, are crazy expensive right now.

I don’t buy that. Prices are inflated for no reason.

Have you looked at car prices lately? My mother-in-law just sold her 2012 Corolla with 142k miles for 7.5k. No way this Camry is going for 7k in today’s market.

Give it a few months, the economy’s slowing down. Prices will drop.

@ToyoLeez
Back in 2021, during the worst of the car price hikes, my 1992 Ford Taurus got totaled and insurance still gave me $4700 for it. I originally bought it for $1000 in 2019.

Had a 2015 Camry from 2017 to 2024. That thing is built like a tank.

Try to find a one-owner car with under 100k miles. You’d be surprised at the good deals out there. First car doesn’t need to be fancy, just needs to be reliable. If buying from a dealer, some mechanics I trust say Easy Care, Max Care, and CarShield are the only warranty plans worth it. And yeah, definitely get it checked before buying. Also, think about gas mileage and insurance rates before pulling the trigger. Good luck.

Get it inspected before buying. But my mom’s 2012 Camry is still running great past 200k miles, and she doesn’t even do regular maintenance.
