I have a 2024 Rav4 Hybrid and want to try car camping soon but I’m worried about security… can someone open my doors if my key fob is inside the car with me? Sorry if this sounds silly
Not silly at all. You can lock the car when you’re inside for the night and turn off the fob. Hold the lock button and press unlock twice while still holding lock.

Wow I never knew this was possible
@Fox
This really helps in areas with lots of theft. Some people use devices to copy your key signal and take your car but this stops that

You could also take the battery out of the key fob if you know how

This does happen but honestly no thief would bother for a RAV4. They go for fancier cars like Bronco Raptors or Hellcats
@Wren
That’s such a strange thing to say
It’s just facts. The tech needed to steal this way costs thousands and no one would use it on a regular car. People here seem upset but it’s true. The posts here about battery issues get more attention than this
@Wren
But people steal Hyundais all the time so maybe don’t act like normal cars don’t get stolen

Those were kids breaking in for fun because it was easy with USB cables. Totally different from stealing with key signals. Those cars had physical keys not fobs
@Wren
You’re actually making sense here even if people disagree

People got mad because I said their car isn’t a target. Now they’re saying RAV4s are stolen most in North America which isn’t true. The Hyundai thing was about physical keys not fobs
@Wren
Actually RAV4 thefts are going up in many places. In the UK over 1200 were stolen last year. In Australia Toyotas get stolen a lot too. The US also reports RAV4s in top stolen cars
@Wren
Why are you still arguing about this when someone just shared a useful tip? Go be negative somewhere else
@Wren
Actually RAV4s and Civics are in the top 10 most stolen cars in North America

Where did you see that? Only Highlanders show up on most lists I’ve seen. Funny how people get upset when I say their car isn’t a target

Here’s a link about Canadian theft stats Top 10 Most Stolen Vehicles of 2024 - Excalibur Blog
@Wren
In 2021 only the basic trim had physical keys so probably not many
