Is This Vehicle Service Agreement Worth The Extra Cost?

I’m buying a 2025 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Woodland Edition, and they’re offering a Vehicle Services Agreement that extends the warranty to 6 years, 125k miles. I drive about 15k miles a year, and it’s going to cost me $6,440 extra. This seems like a lot to me—has anyone else looked into these kinds of add-ons? I’ve only ever bought one car used before, so this whole process is new to me. Any advice would be appreciated!

That price is ridiculous! I’d never pay that much for a warranty, seems like a rip-off.

I just got a quote for a ‘25 hybrid limited and it was way cheaper than that. I told my dealer they had to match it or I’d go with this other dealer. They matched the price.

What was the quote? I tried the link but it didn’t work. Thanks for sharing!

@Quin
The quote was under $2k for 125k miles. The link might not work, but you can email him directly at jerryj@midwestsuperstore.com.

Thanks! I’m actually looking at a Crown, but it’s still good to know. Toyota’s always a solid choice

Oh man, don’t buy it from your dealer, OP! They’re asking way too much! I got mine from Jerry, the dealership wanted over $4k for 7 years/100k, but Jerry offered 10 years/125k for way less.

That’s a crazy high price for a warranty. I got 6 years/100k miles for $1,700, and I thought that was a solid deal. $6,440 is way too much. If you’re thinking about gap insurance, I’d check that out too, but even that might not be worth it at that price.

Last October I thought I was getting a good deal at $2,495 for 10 years/100k miles on my RAV4 Prime. But Jerry from Midwest Toyota would’ve offered me at least another $1k off if I’d gone through him.

No way. That’s too much.

Did you end up buying from Jerry?

Jerry never tries to rip anyone off like that!

Haha, is your first name Jerry?

It’s negotiable! I paid 55% of the original quote for my first extended warranty, and the second one was free!

I got 10 years/100k miles for $2,760, but I didn’t take it. This deal you’re looking at is definitely a rip-off.

I paid under $1,600 for 6 years/100k miles. You can find way better deals.

I got 10 years/100k miles for $1,350. You’re being overcharged here.

I got 10 years for a third of that price. Don’t fall for it!

No way. That’s way overpriced.

I got 100k/7 years with 55k maintenance service included for $2,400. I canceled the maintenance and kept the 100k warranty for $1,250.
