Just got a used lift kit… what else do I need?

Picked up a used 3-inch Icon lift kit for my 2011 TRD Off-Road. What else should I get before installing? Do I need a diff drop kit? Add-a-leaf or full new leaf springs? Carrier bearing drop? New upper control arms? All I have is what’s in the pic.

Check your brake line length before flexing too much… last thing you want is to pop a line.

Not gonna lie, solid advice. I need to swap my pin bearing too… we should be passing around the tool for it.

This guy definitely knows his stuff.

Agreed, this is good info.

Pretty sure the shocks have less than 10k miles on them. I called a shop that does rebuilds, and they said as long as they aren’t leaking and have under 30k miles, they don’t need one.

Less than 10k since they were last rebuilt, or since the previous owner bought them new? They look old, and those top hats are the older design that tends to crack.

‘Pretty sure’ isn’t the same as ‘100% sure.’ Why not just rebuild them while they’re already off the truck? Better to do it now than regret it later.

Spend the money on the rebuild now. No way to know how hard they were used before. You’ll be kicking yourself if they start leaking in six months. You’ve already got the suspension off—might as well get it done while everything’s accessible.

Best setup would be a new set of 3-inch lift rear springs, upper control arms, and a solid alignment. No need to mess with anything else unless you run into problems after the install.
