Just Joined the Club Sienna... What Accessories Are Must-Haves?

After a lot of thinking, we finally decided on the Toyota Sienna. Luckily, one of the dealers nearby had one available for a test drive, and the next day they had the XSE model with all the features we wanted. It was a bit surprising, especially since they had a lot of cars on the way, most of them already spoken for. So, my wife and I took the plunge, and we’re both really happy with our choice.

Now it’s time to think about accessories. I’ve been browsing this forum and others for ideas, and I’ve already picked out a few things I want to add. One of the first things I’m looking at is floor mats. I really like Tuxmat, but I’m curious how well they fit along the second-row rails. With four kids and a gravel driveway, I need mats that will catch as much dirt as possible.

The 3W mats look promising because they fit under the plastic trim, which I think would really help catch everything. The downside is that I’m not too fond of their look, although I definitely prioritize functionality over appearance. Also, I’m a bit hesitant about their price and whether they’ll last long-term.

So, I’m stuck between these two options. Anyone here have any thoughts or photos of their van with either of these mats? Has anyone compared the Tuxmat and 3W mats directly?

It’s exciting to be part of the club .

We went with WeatherTech mats because I work with concrete and asphalt, so the dirt I track in is a lot. With three kids, my wife, and a German shepherd, we’ve been a WeatherTech family for years.

I’ve had WeatherTech mats before, and while they were durable and good at catching dirt, I didn’t like how stiff they were, and the edges would curl up. Are you using the newer HP style mats? I wonder if they’ve improved with those.

@Day
Not sure when they switched, but I bought the van new in 2023 and got the mats a few months later.

I believe the HP line has been around for a few years. I think they’re made of a more flexible rubber, probably similar to Husky Liners (which I like too, although the Husky mats for the Sienna are in two pieces for the second and third rows).

I highly recommend the OEM all-weather mats from Canada. You can find them on eBay. They’re different from the ones in the US and have extra coverage along the side rails, which the US versions don’t have. I also think they look better than all the other options.

@silikmed
It’s strange that the US OEM mats don’t have side rail coverage. That’s the first area your shoes touch when you get in the car.

I agree completely.

I was thinking of checking those out. Maybe I’ll find the part number and look into them. How do the sides along the seat rails stay in place?

The 3W mats have little nibs on the bottom that tuck under the rails and trim, so they stay in place.

The side rails don’t attach to anything, they just sit there. But the rubber on the bottom keeps them in place. They haven’t moved, even with kids getting in and out all last month.

@silikmed
Thanks for the info. These seem like a good option too.

I haven’t tried Tux mat, but I’ve seen many people happy with the 3W mats. They’re actually 25% off right now, so you can get the full set including the cargo mat for $150, which seems like a great deal. I just ordered mine for my XSE, and it should be here by the end of the week. I’m also looking into seat protectors for two car seats (I got the premium package with leather seats, so I want to protect the leather). Another thing on my list is getting the front windows tinted. Already got things lined up before I even have the car.

@Tsuna
I like the way you’re thinking! I’ve been considering some seat protection as well (I also got the XSE premium package). I used a Munkin car seat protector for my little one who’s still in a car seat. Now I just need to decide if I want protection for the older three too. That 3W deal is tempting. A front window tint would be nice as well, but I think I need to get a hitch first for bike carriers.

We just ordered the 3W set for our Sienna. They’re running a holiday deal right now, so it was $157.50 for the full set, including the trunk mat. We currently have the factory carpet mats, but the 3W set looked the best to us.

@LUCKY
Another vote for 3W. They’re fantastic.

@LUCKY
That price is hard to beat. Let me know how you like them when they arrive.

I like the 3W set, but I use the WeatherTech mats for the trunk. It’s been working out well.

I had Tuxmats for another car, and while they’re good, they’re nothing special. It probably depends on whether you like the rubbery look or prefer a more textured look.
