I switched from a 2004 Toyota Matrix XRS to a 2021 Outback Limited XT and my premium went down. I think the safety features helped.
Just picked up a 2025 Outback and I’m actually shocked at how low my rate is. Maybe I got lucky!
Insurance rates for anything newer than 2010 are just crazy. At this point, it’s probably cheaper to keep fixing an old car than to pay insurance on a new one.
Location plays a huge role. When I moved from San Antonio to a smaller town, my six-month premium for my Outback dropped from $500 to $240.
I’m paying about $1,100 a year with Geico. Seems fair to me, but I also only drive about 10K miles a year.
